Oh snap there was a special on ABC Nightline last night about Doga. That's yoga you do with your dog of course. Did you see it? If not the article is here.
The latest fitness craze for dog lovers is called "doga" and it's coming to a mat near you. In a typical doga class, owners help their pups facilitate different poses, and they also do their own poses using the animals as helpful props. Owners also perform doggy massage and acupressure to help soothe and relax their pets.
It's funny I was just thinking about doga recently. With 75 million homes in America with dogs and about 13 million people practicing yoga, I guess the trend was inevitable. I'm dead curious to see what a class is like. You can use all the candles, incense, and calming music you like but I can't imagine most of the dogs I know staying calm enough for a doga session. And do dogs really need stylish velour sweat suits or a ball that says OM when it bounces? Nevertheless, it is a sweet concept. If there was a class near me I would definitely sign up. Anything that gets people to spend time and bond with their pets is Ruby and I approved!
